COVID-19 Testing Procedures

How you are operating the CELPIP test safely during COVID at ELS Vancouver?

ELS Vancouver is strictly following all BCCDC operational guidelines in regard to physical distancing, wearing masks and cleaning protocols in all areas of operations. Extensive cleaning of all operational areas is taking place multiple times a day including the hallways, the computer stations, washrooms, elevators and all common areas of the building.

Do I have to wear a face mask?

Yes, masks are required for all staff and test takers. Those not wearing masks will not be allowed to take the test.

Should I bring my own face mask, or will one be provided?

You must bring your own mask. ELS does not supply individual masks.

If I feel ill on my test day, should I show up?

No. Do not attempt to take the test if you are ill or showing any symptoms of colds or flu within the last 14 days. ELS will ask anyone who shows symptoms to leave the center. Test takers should contact Paragon directly to reschedule a test sitting if they have been sick in the past 14 days.

Can I take off my face mask for the Speaking Test?

No. Masks must be worn at all times. Your voice is recorded without issue while wearing a mask. Test takers will be asked to leave and not be allowed to finish the test if they lower their face masks at any time during the test.

Can I bring water with me into the testing room?

Yes. Water bottles must be stored on a bookshelf and are not allowed at your computer station. When you want a drink, just raise your hand and a staff member will bring your bottle to you.

Should I bring my own water?

Yes. ELS does not have access to a drinking fountain.

Are computer stations sanitized properly?

Yes. Monitors, keyboards, mice, headphones, pens, chairs and workspaces are all sanitized after each test taker finishes.

How early should I show up before my test?

Building doors open 45 minutes to 1 hour before the start of a test. Paragon recommends arriving 45 minutes before the start of the test. Latecomers will not be seated for their tests and must reschedule for another day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can we help you with?
CELPIP
When I took CELPIP, I found it was like speaking English in real life. You speak every day with your boss and with your friends, and the CELPIP Test represents those every-day, real-life language situations.
- Rafaela B., CELPIP Test Taker
CELPIP
I had taken other English language proficiency before, and CELPIP was more relatable to me. All of the questions were situations I was familiar with from daily life, and were like conversations I had experienced personally.
